Review by Paul Boekkooi Netwerk 24.com on 24 June 2019

"Leah Gunter in the role of Violetta Valéry is a definite attribute to the company. Her debut was exceptionally intense in focus, communication and characterisation. The timbre of the voice was richer, deeper and at times more lyric dramatic than her predecessors.
Callas in her masterclass referred to the wide range of expression inherent in the role - something which Gunter palpably used in her interpretation.
She completely convinces vocally and dramatically as the tragic courtisane who sacrifices herself under social pressure, despite the fact that her death is imminent and the happiness she discovers as she falls in love.
There were substantial contrasts between the brilliant agility of her coloratura in the first act and the dramatic approach imminent in the second and third acts."

Review by Paul Boekkooi Netwerk 24.com on 6 October 2018

"The soprano Leah Gunter established an exceptional Marguerite, both vocally and dramatically. Her voice is somewhat heavier than the typical casting, but was nevertheless endued with the warmth of timbre needed. Her French greatly transcended the regular level presented and was truly idiomatically correct."
